Loretto Mustangs Homecoming Week Highlights

Last week was Homecoming Week for the Loretto High School Mustangs.

The week started off with Monday’s theme of Heroes and Villains with over 250 students participating. Dressed as the Hulk, Madison Bennett won first place. Minute to Win It games Johnny Applestack, Penny hose, Bobble head, and Paper Dragon were played during Activity Period.

On Tuesday over 240 students dressed for Beach Bum and Pirates Day.  Morgan Self and Nickie Brewer were our best-dressed pirates. Games that day were Tacky Tourist and Ships and Sailors.

Wednesday was Character Day and, boy, did we have some characters with 199 participating! Aladdin and Jasmine were our winners (Rhett Kennedy and Ana Rico).  Ice fishing and Egg Drop were Wednesday’s games.

Thursday brought us to America Day with Chelsea Taylor winning as the Statue of Liberty. Over 250 students participated in dressing up. Games included Musical Chairs, and Hut, Hut, Hike. Thursday night we had our first frog giggin’ contest. Juniors and Freshmen tied for the biggest frog weighing 12 oz. Overall winner was the Senior class with total weight of 9 lb. 13 oz. We had over 120 students participate!

There was a flurry of activity on Friday. We started out the day with field day events of Tug O’ War, Kiddie Pool Marble Grab, Four Picture/Brain Teaser Game, and Food Eating Relay Races. Students and faculty participated. After that, students met in the gym for the much anticipated scavenger hunt and Name That Tune.

Before the parade, students worked to put the finishing touches on their class floats. At 1:45 everyone who was not in the parade lined up in front of the school to watch the parade. The theme for the parade was Disney.

Coming in first was the senior float, Monsters Inc., with the Freshman class coming in second with Steamboat Willy, third was the Sophomore float of Tinkerbell, and rounding out the floats was the Junior class with Tangled.

With 243 points, the Seniors came in first for overall points for the week, Juniors came in with 185 points for second place, the Freshmen had 144 points for third place, and the Sophomores had 115 points.

Friday night culminated with the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and King. Madison Bennett and Evan Robbins were crowned Queen and King.

Members of the court were seniors Madison Bennett and Nate Benson, Tasha Butler and Jake Brewer, BrinLee Glass and Rhett Kennedy, Sarah Methvin and Evan Robbins, and Kayla Santiago and Caleb Smith,and senior cheerleaders Alex Beckman and Sydney Strickland,. Junior members were Ellie Davis and Bailey Flatt, Allie Littrell and Brandon Gillespie, and Riley Littrell and Lane Myhan.

Sophomore members were Natalie Bedford and Tristen Brewer and Brittany Payne and Kelby Luffman. Freshman members were Baylee Allen and Jacob Laws.

 Cheerleaders Tayler Hill, Jessie Diers, and Kelley Jones rounded out the Court. Presenting the scepter to the Queen was Trinity Pesnell, sister of last year’s Queen, Tanna Pesnell.

To continue a great week, the Mustangs defeated the Collinwood Trojans 20-3!  Congratulations to all of our Mustangs!
