Neighbors Seek Assistance When Owners Fail To Dispose Of Dead Animals

Residents in one local community sought law enforcement intervention during the weekend, reporting that a neighbor had repeatedly failed to dispose of dead animals on his property.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were sent to the Mt. Lebanon Road home to investigate.

They reported finding a dead goat that had been tied in front of a vehicle, lying on the ground. The reporting officer noted that the goat appeared to have died several days prior, but said that there were no obvious signs of malnourishment.

The deputy noted seeing a total of eighteen other goats in pens on the property. He said that some of the goats had access to food, but that others did not. Chickens kept in pens and cages on the property reportedly had no access to food or water.

Deputies report they were unable to make contact with anyone at the property, nor were they able to contact individuals listed as owners of vehicles there. Investigation into the matter is on-going at the present time.
