The Trump Administration along with the FDA are working to ban flavored E- Cigarettes as an approach to keeping the product out of the hands of teenagers.

On Wednesday the Trump Administration along with the assistance of the FDA stated that they are working to ban the sale of most flavored e-cigarettes during a time when hundreds of people have been sickened by mysterious lung illnesses as well as a rise in teenage vaping.

President Trump acknowledged the issue by saying, “We can’t allow people to get sick. And we can’t have our kids be so affected.”

Michigan was the first state to prohibit the sale of flavored e-cigarettes along with San Francisco approving the ban as well as Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York also calling for a ban with Massachusetts and California also considering similar measures.

According to the FDA Health and Human Services Secretary, Alex Azar II, a plan would be outlined in the coming weeks for removing flavored e-cigarettes and nicotine pods from the market which would also exclude tobacco flavors as well as mint and menthol flavors.

Juul has already received a warning letter from the FDA where the company was accused of violating federal regulations by promoting its vaping products as a healthier option than cigarettes.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has urged people, nonsmokers and teenagers, not to vape at all where they recommend that cigarette smokers trying to quit should consult a doctor rather than take up e-cigarettes.

As for the agency’s decision to prohibit most flavors a Juul spokesman even agreed stating, “We strongly agree with the need for aggressive category-wide action on flavored products."

Matthew Myers the president of the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids has expressed his concern with e-cigarettes and flavors being used by the youth is causing a new generation to become hooked on nicotine after decades of a decline in smoking rates
