Coin Thieves Strike Again

   For the third day in a row local authorities were summoned to an area home to investigate a burglary during which the thieves escaped with a container full of accumulated coins.

   Deputies with the Lawrenceburg Police Officers were summoned to 404 Pettus Street Monday morning where they spoke with the male resident, age 43. He indicated that someone had broken into his home overnight, taking a bucket of coins from his dresser. The crime, he said, occurred sometime between 10:00 p.m. Sunday and 10:00 a.m. Monday. He estimated loss to be around $200.

   A case involving the theft of change is currently under investigation by officials with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies dispatched to a home at 35 South Chisholm Creek Road, West Point, Sunday morning found that thieves had entered the home through an unsecured screen door, making off with a five-gallon water bottle filled with approximately $3,000 worth of coins.

   And on Saturday officers with the police department answered a call to a home on Gallaher Street, where a neighbor made contact with an intruder claiming to be the resident’s niece. The woman reportedly made off with a gallon jug that contained approximately $95 worth of coins along with five $1 bills, for a loss of $100.
