Churches Targets Of Vandals, Thieves

Churches were targeted by vandals and thieves during two separate crimes reported through the Lawrenceburg Police Department Sunday.

The pastor of Sunset Fellowship at 309 Columbia Avenue reported that vandals had entered their building through a rear door.

Inside, they report the vandals painted graffiti on pews, damaged a basketball goal, and set a costume on fire, leaving burned spots on the floor. Damages were estimated at around $375.

Later that afternoon, officers were called to East End United Methodist Church at 501 Fourth Street. There, the pastor reported someone had stolen two fuses from the church’s air conditioning unit. He estimated it would cost $100 to replace the fuses.

Both cases currently remain under investigation by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.

Anyone who has information pertinent to the investigation should contact the department at 931-762-2276.
