Search Yields Drug Charges Against Summertown Man

Law enforcement authorities are seeking indictments against a Summertown man after a search of his home yielded meth components.

According to a press release issued through the Lawrenceburg Police Department Wednesday, drug agents went to serve a search warrant at the 1356 Turnpike Road, Summertown home of Timmy Lee Long, age 48. They were able to locate Long at his job site and report that they escorted him back to his home to conduct the search.

During the operation agents report finding a camouflage backpack hidden outside of the residence. Inside they found several components commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. In addition, they report finding a small amount of marijuana inside a bedroom.

Officials report that evidence collected during the search will be presented to the Lawrence County Grand Jury as they seek indictments, charging Long with the crimes of promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine, initiation of the manufacture of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to officials, members of the Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force were summoned to the scene to properly package and dispose of the hazardous components.
