Car Burglars Flee When Approached By Owner

Individuals caught in the act of burglarizing two vehicles at a local home Saturday evening fled after being approached by the owners.

According to reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to 276 Legg Lane around 8:45 p.m.

The mother and son residents, ages 44 and 18, reported they had noticed two men near their vehicles shortly before. When they approached, they report that the pair fled on foot. The male resident told deputies he had attempted to catch them, but had been unable to do so.

The dash in the mother’s vehicle had been damaged when the pair apparently attempted to remove the stereo. The son’s vehicle, which was keyed, also sustained substantial damage.

In addition, they reported that a hand-quilted quilt that had been hanging on a nearby clothesline was cut several time.
