Efforts Continue To Locate Suspects In Hit And Run Deaths Of Lawrence Men

Investigators are continuing their efforts to identify individuals involved in hit and run accidents that resulted in the deaths of two Lawrence County men earlier this year and they implore that anyone with pertinent information contact them.

Jerry Springer, age 60, of Loretto passed away on Thursday, May 19 as the results of injuries he sustained in a May 10 hit and run accident that occurred on U.S. Highway 43 South.

Law enforcement officials indicated that Springer was riding a bicycle northbound along the highway, near Pettus Auto Sales, when he was struck by a northbound Toyota truck. Witnesses reported that the driver failed to stop and render aid.

Law enforcement officials continue to search for clues that might lead them to identify the driver. Although numerous tips have been offered, they have not led to the identification of a suspect or the location of the suspect vehicle. Those with information are encouraged to contact the Loretto Police Department at 853-6797.

Investigators with the Tennessee Highway Patrol are continuing their efforts to identify the individual involved in a hit and run accident June 21 that claimed the life of Leoma resident Joshua Stuart Wiseman, age 40.

A motorist placed a 911 call around 4:30 that morning after finding a body lying alongside Fall River Road, approximately two miles south of the U.S. Highway 43 intersection. Officials speculated Wiseman had been struck sometime between 1:00 and 4:30 a.m.

To date officials have had no major break in the case. They continue to request, however, that anyone with information contact the THP Lawrenceburg District office at 766-1464 or the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department at 762-3646.
