Agents Tipped To Meth Lab Through Maury Investigation
Local drug agents were tipped to the existence of a meth lab at a Summertown home last weekend after three individuals were apprehended in neighboring Maury County for purchasing the components needed to manufacture the drug.
Agents with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Crime Suppression Unit and the Lawrenceburg Police Department were notified Sunday by Maury County drug agents that they had arrested thee individuals who had been gathering the ingredients needed to manufacture meth.
Once in custody, agents indicate they began to interview the arrestees. During an interview, agents report one woman commented they had left some of the components under her couch.
As a result of the information agents made their way to the 120 Brace Road home of Penni Blair. Agents made attempts to make contact with someone at the residence, but were unable to do so. They report making their way to an outbuilding on the property, where they discovered three shake bottles lying atop a burn pile.
Agents quickly obtained a search warrant for the premises. Bottles of Coleman fuel and lye were found in some nearby woods. Numerous items of drug paraphernalia were discovered inside the house, including coffee filters, salt and liquid fire. In addition, agents located a backpack inside an outbuilding. The backpack contained various components of a meth lab, including coffee filters, Coleman fuel, tubing, lye, and ziplock bags.
Agents requested that Maury County authorities place a hold for Blair, requiring that she be retuned to Lawrence County once she is released from custody in Maury County. Warrants were issued locally against Blair, charging her with the crimes of possession of drug paraphernalia, promotion of a process to result in the manufacture of methamphetamine,s initiation of a process intended to result in the manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of Schedule II narcotics (morphine).
