Man Wanted In Wayne County Apprehended By Local Authorities

A man being sought by authorities in neighboring Wayne County was apprehended by local law enforcement officers on Monday.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that the department was notified that Collinwood resident David Franklin Pike, age 51, was wanted in connection with a theft reported by his wife.

She reported to authorities that Pike had stolen a bag full of documents and an iPad belonging to the insurance company for which she worked.

She indicated that the items contained personal information about clients, and that Pike was threatening to release that information over the internet should she not comply with his wishes.

Officers were able to locate Pike’s vehicle at a local motel and confronted him about the matter. He told officers that he had given the iPad to his daughter, but that he was still in possession of the bag of documents.

Officers report that while they were speaking with Pike, they noticed various items lying about the room. They report seizing into evidence a number of bags of synthetic marijuana along with a handgun, various items of drug paraphernalia, a large number of collectible coins, and $2,800 cash.

Pike was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was booked under charges that include violation of drug free school zone, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of narcotics for the purpose of resale, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Pike is slated to answer the charges in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on September 6, 2013.
