Mom Admits Forcing Son To Lie About Assault

A local woman reportedly admitted to law enforcement officers that she had forced her son to lie about a domestic altercation at her home Friday, by threatening to have him taken into state custody.

April Nichole Haddock, 33, was arrested at her 1158 Marable Road home shortly before 8:00 p.m. Friday on charges of filing a false police report.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to the home to investigate a domestic assault. When they arrived, the victim reported that Haddock had forced their ten year old, mentally handicapped son to give false information.

He told deputies that Haddock had told the boy that if he did not tell officers that his father had struck her in the face, she would have him placed into the custody of the Department of Children’s Services. The youngster told them that his father had struck his mother in the face, “several times with an open hand.”

When they questioned Haddock about the allegation, they report that she admitted she had forced the boy to lie. She was transported for incarceration at the Lawrence County Detention Center.

Haddock was scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on September 17, 2013.
