Low Income Families May Waive Many School Costs

   Families who are of a low income should be aware that the added burden of many back-to-school costs may be waived.

   The Legal Aid Society, which provides free legal aid to individuals who often have nowhere else to turn, has made available a fact sheet, explaining the situation. With eight offices in Middle and East Tennessee, the society offers to provide parents with helpful information regarding financial responsibilities regarding school.

   Families who are eligible for the free or reduced-price lunch program may be eligible to waive many fees, as well. In addition, they indicate that a family of three who’s monthly income does not exceed $2,648, is not required to pay most school fees.
