Director of Schools Selected As Board Member Of
Tennessee Organization Of School Superintendents

Lawrence County Director of Schools, Dr. Bill Heath has been named a Board Member of the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents for the South Central Region. 

Board members are selected by colleagues.  TOSS is the leading advocate organization for public education in the State of Tennessee. Since 1975, TOSS has been progressing public education and addressing the needs of its administrators. 

Today, TOSS continues to address the needs of education in Tennessee based on the following organizational purposes:

• The advancement of public education;
• The promotion of the work and interest of the superintendents, but not for private gain or personal economic interest;
• The gathering and circulation of information on general school matters;
• The provision of pertinent information on sound education legislation to the General Assembly of Tennessee;
• The cooperation with the State Department of Education and other agencies and organizations interest in public education;
• To propose legislation, to establish and communicate a position on pending legislation and to study its impact on local school systems; and
• To engage in other activities and programs deemed necessary for the welfare of children and youth in the State of Tennessee.

Dr. Heath shares, “It is an honor being selected by my peers as a Board Member of the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents.  The vision for TOSS is that Superintendents throughout the state be the leaders in education reform as this is a very talented and knowledgeable group of school leaders.”
