Sheriff, County Executive Unseated In Thursday Election

   When the numbers were tallied Thursday evening following the County General Election there were several upsets, including that of Lawrence County Sheriff and Lawrence County Executive.

   Voters selected J. Mack Chandler to serve as the next County Executive. Chandler defeated Republican candidate Jim Modlin, 4,181 to 3,221. Current County Executive Paul Rosson had run a write-in campaign and officials reported 2,112 write-in votes cast.

   Jimmy Brown was selected as the new sheriff from a field of five candidates. Unofficial numbers show that Brown received 3,516 votes; Sheriff Kenny Taylor 3,398; Mike Risner 2,497, Lee Adam England 332; and Pete Shrader 175.
