Man Arrested Twice At Same Location For Violating Sex Offender Registry Law

Authorities report that a local man was arrested Monday for violating the Sex Offender Registry law, at the same location that had placed him in violation of the law on a prior occasion.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that Charles Dwayne Jackson was arrested around 2:15 p.m. at 1401 Hart Avenue.

Officers, along with sheriff’s deputies, were attempting to locate Jackson because they discovered that the home address he had given upon his recent release from jail was within 1,000 feet of a daycare center.

In addition, they report that Jackson had not reported to his supervising agency as required by law.

Officers report when they went to the address he had listed, the residents were uncooperative, refusing to give any information regarding Jackson’s whereabouts.

Officers were able to obtain a cell phone number from some of Jackson’s paperwork at the jail. They report that he answered when they telephoned, and told them where he was.

When they arrived, officers said they realized it was the same house where Jackson had previously been arrested for being in too close proximity to Rotary Park.

When officers asked Jackson why he was at the home he said that he had stopped by to visit and use the telephone. They pointed out that he had a cell phone and had no need to use the house phone.

They also pointed out that, since he had been arrested at the home prior he knew that being there placed him in violation of state law. They report that Jackson conceded that he knew he was not supposed to be there and officers placed him under arrest.

Jackson was transported for incarceration at the Lawrence County Detention Center. He is scheduled to answer the charge in general sessions court on September 5, 2013.
