Wife Reports Husband Twice Pointed Gun At Her

Authorities were summoned to intervene Wednesday when a husband allegedly pulled a handgun on his estranged wife not once, but on two separate occasions.

The victim, age twenty-nine, drove to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department following the second incident and a Lawrenceburg Police Officer was summoned to initiate the investigation.

She told deputies that her husband, from whom she is currently separated, telephoned her around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon and asked that she come to his Kennedy Street home to discuss the children. She told officers that she drove to his home and that he came out to her car to talk with her.

During the conversation, the victim reports her husband became angry and pulled a handgun from his waist area, pointing it at her. She told officers that she drove away, fearing that he would shoot her.

Around 9:30 the following morning the victim said she was traveling along Hoover Street when there was a second such encounter.

As she and a friend drove along the street, the victim reports that her husband pulled from nearby Maple Avenue, exited his vehicle, then again pointed the handgun at her, while approaching her car.

The victim told officers that she backed up and left the area, driving straight to the sheriff’s department to file a report.

As a result of the incidents a criminal summons was issued against the husband, Joseph Baughman, 23, requiring that he answer charges of aggravated assault through Lawrence County General Sessions Court.
