No Arrests Yet Made In Industry Arson Case

Authorities report that no arrests have yet been made in connection with two arson fires set inside a Lawrenceburg industry last week while hundreds of employees were working nearby.

Investigation into the matter was initiated immediately after the discovery of the two Tuesday fires. Fire Investigator Shayne Adams with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department confirmed that two separate intentionally set fires were extinguished inside the Jones Apparel Group building on Motivation Drive last week, on Tuesday, July 22.

Workers reported smelling smoke and discovering the first blaze, allowing the building to be cleared without any injuries being sustained.

The second blaze was discovered shortly after the first arson attempted proved unsuccessful. Although they smelled smoke, workers were alerted to the second blaze by the sounding of smoke alarms. The second blaze, officials say, also resulted in no injuries.

Adams indicates that investigation into the crime is still under full investigation. Anyone who has information regarding either or both of the blazes is urged to contact the Lawrenceburg Police Department at 762-2276, or the Tennessee Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017. Officials point out that you may remain anonymous.
