District 4 Candidate Kent Greenough Statement

Submitted by the candidate

You’ve all heard me say that my campaign is a new kind of campaign for a new kind of Washington. Rather than talking on a policy issue this week, I want to talk about our campaign and what makes it so different and exciting.

This campaign is about the 4th District. I own a farm and live in the 4th District, my consulting business is based in the 4th District, my wife Jan teaches at Columbia State Community College in the 4th District.

But more telling, since several of my opponents can make similar claims, is that my campaign is almost exclusively funded by people from the 4th District and all of my campaign signs and literature are created and produced by businesses in the 4th District. When I talk about bringing jobs and keeping jobs in the 4th, it’s not just idle campaign chatter. Other candidates are apparently so out of touch with the 4th that they don’t realize how many of our small businesses are struggling and how important every order, every job is to them.

Take a close look at the mailers you will be receiving in the next few weeks. You will note that some of my opponents’ publications are produced by the Stoneridge Group - a big political PR firm based in Georgia. Those candidates’ tens of thousands of dollars do not support anyone in the 4th District. Their signs and brochures are not made by businesses in the 4th District but by the lowest bidder from among the many businesses nation-wide that do political merchandising.

My signs are produced by Dave Hall in Fayetteville (Lincoln County), my brochures printed by Crews Printing in Mt. Pleasant (Maury County), the embroidery on our shirts by Make It Personal in Crossville (Cumberland County), the shirts themselves from Tractor Supply in Fayetteville, Pulaski (Giles County) and Crossville, and photos on the website by Tina Freeman from Fayetteville. The Constitutions that I routinely hand out are not produced in the District - I could not find a local source for them. But they do come from the Heritage Foundation, a great conservative think tank (of which I am a member) - and our support of them furthers our conservative agenda.

Bottom line is that my campaign is supporting the 4th District from the ground up. Everything that I can get done in the 4th, is done in the 4th. My campaign relies, not on out-of-state paid political staffers and managers, but on you, the constituents and volunteers of the 4th District, to support me and my efforts by talking to neighbors, friends and fellow churchgoers. And it’s working. We are creating a tsunami of support that, come August 5, will overwhelm the opposition and leave them wondering, what happened! With your help, the 4th District will finally have a candidate who is from the 4th, who believes in the people of the 4th, who supports the people of the 4th, and will represent the people of the 4th to the very best of his ability.

Thank you for everything - and let’s stay energized for the final critical push to get everyone to the polls. Remember, signs in the yard do not elect a candidate, bumper stickers do not elect a candidate, but voting does. So make sure that everyone you reach out to votes.
