Theft Reported From Cemetery

   A Lawrence County resident reported this week that someone had stolen items from her mother’s grave at Centerpoint Methodist Cemetery.

   Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department met with the victim, Mattie Louise Allred, at the cemetary, located on Rabbit Trail Road in the Leoma area. She stated that someone had stolen a set of praying hands and a concrete angel off of her mother’s grave.

   In the place of the angel, Allred reported, the perpetrator had left a ceramic birdhouse. The birdhouse, which she had left at an earlier time, was broken.

   Loss is estimated to be $55.00. Anyone who has information regarding the crime is encouraged to contact the department at 931-762-3626.
