Fighting Couple Garners Charges

A couple who called for law enforcement officials to intervene in a domestic altercation Wednesday both garnered charges as a result.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched shortly after 3:00 p.m. to a home situated at 30 Old Highway 43, Summertown. When they arrived, they report the female resident, Deborah Carlene McFall, 53, was in the process of cleaning up glass broken from the kitchen door.

Deborah McFall told deputies she and husband Steven, 45, had been arguing and she had broken the glass with a knife.

Steven McFall told deputies during the argument his wife pulled a knife on him and chased him through the house trying to stab him. He said as he ran outside, she stabbed at him, breaking the tip of the knife off in the door. He told deputies he then ran to a neighbor’s house to call for help.

Deputies report that when they escorted Deborah McFall into the home to retrieve her eye glasses, they noticed a plastic container on the coffee table that contained a small amount of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia. Both admitted the items belonged to them.

Steven McFall was issued a citation on charges of simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. It requires that he answer the charge in Lawrence County General on August 9, 2011.

Deborah McFall was placed under arrest on the same charges as well as one count of aggravated domestic assault. She was subsequently transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. She is to appear in general sessions court on September 13, 2011.
