Second Teen Receives Sexual Threats Through Facebook

A second local fifteen year old in as many days has filed a complaint with law enforcement officers of receiving sexual threats via Facebook.

The second teenage girl reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies Tuesday that another local girl had used her photos and personal information to set up a bogus Facebook account. She then used the account to “talk to guys.”

The teen reported she had been contacted by one man, asking whether she was “the real” person in the photos. He informed her he had been “talking to her for six months on a separate profile.”

The teen indicated that she had been communicating with a man on Monday, when the conversation turned sexual in nature. During the conversation the man reportedly threatened to “force himself” upon the teen sexually.

The victim reported she had been able to identify the girl who had fraudulently used her information. She said she and her mother contacted the other girl’s mother and explained the situation.

The mother informed them she would make certain her daughter dismantled the account and apologized. The victim reported that while part of the information was removed approximately two weeks before, some of the postings remained.

The teen was advised to save all future harassing correspondence to be inspected by detectives with the department.
