Lawrenceburg Police Chief Judy Moore reports that Polly Ann Scholl, age 33, died in the wake of the altercation that took place inside her Oak Grove Apartments home.

Officers with the department were first summoned to a home on Clayton Street on an unwanted person call. The unwanted person, they said, was gone upon their arrival. Witnesses, however, reported they feared the man had harmed his wife.

With this new information in-hand, officers made their way to the couple’s apartment. When the manager opened the door to the home, officers report they found Polly Ann Scholl lying on the hallway floor, “covered in blood.” Scholl had reportedly sustained several serious injuries, including injuries to her head and stab wounds.

Employees of the Lawrence County Ambulance Service transported Scholl to Crockett Hospital. She was later airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where she died as the result of her injuries. Scholl’s body was dispatched for autopsy as officials attempt to determine a cause of death.

Moore reports that the suspect, Samuel Scholl, age 29, was quickly apprehended. Scholl was placed under arrest on charges of first degree murder and booked through the Lawrence County Jail..

Scholl appeared for a bond hearing in Lawrence County General Sessions Court Monday morning. During those proceedings Judge Patricia McGuire ordered that Scholl be held without bond. In addition, she scheduled a preliminary hearing in the matter for Tuesday, July 28, 2009.
