Sales Tax Holiday August 5-7

With the 2011-2012 school year set to begin August 11, parents are reminded they may plan to make back-to-school purchases during the Tennessee Sales Tax Holiday in order to save approximately 10% of costs.

The State of Tennessee's Sales Tax Holiday is held annually the first Friday in August through the following Sunday night. This year's tax-free holiday weekend begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 5, ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 7.

State officials report the annual event results in savings of approximately $8 million for families throughout the state.

Conveniently, the Alabama Sales Tax Holiday will be held during the same time period.
