Firearm And Files Stolen During Burglary

   Law enforcement reports indicate that a firearm and files were the items targeted by a thief who broke into a Countrywood Drive home during the weekend.

   The 79-year-old victim summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies to his home, indicating that the burglary had taken place sometime between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. Sunday. The victim told deputies that he had locked his front door when he left, but found it unlocked when he returned.

   Once the perpetrator gained access to the interior of the home, deputies report he went through a file drawer inside the victim’s bedroom. Taken were several miscellaneous files, including one that contained the victim’s bank statements. Also missing was one “RG” six-shot, .22 caliber revolver. The handgun, the victim stated, had brown plastic grips and a blue finish.

   Loss as a result of the crime is estimated to e $111.00. Investigation is continuing at the current time
