Husband Threatens To Kill Child’s Father

Law enforcement officers were summoned to intervene Wednesday after a Lawrenceburg man made threats to kill the father of his wife’s child.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 8:45 p.m. call to Depot Street in Summertown, where they spoke with the distraught woman.

The woman told deputies that she and her husband have been separated for approximately three months, and that she had gone to his Lawrenceburg home that evening for dinner.

While she and her children were there, the victim said her husband became angry at her son, and as a result they became involved in a heated argument. She indicated that she then took her children and left the premises.

While on her way home, she told deputies that her husband telephoned her. During the call he allegedly told her that “he had no reason to live,” and that he “was going to kill her son’s father.” She indicated that he then asked her repeatedly where the man was employed.

While at the Summertown home, deputies report that they spoke with the man against whom the threats had been made. At that time he indicated he did not wish to file a complaint.

Deputies left the home, but were called back a short time later after the man began receiving threatening telephone calls. During the second conversation, the victim opted to file a complaint regarding telephone harassment. He indicated that he wished to file the report because he was convinced that the man would not attempt to carry out his threats.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were contacted and went to the man’s home in order to conduct a check on his welfare. They report, however, that they were unable to make contact with him at that time.

Deputies did speak with the mother of the man. They indicate she would not divulge the whereabouts of her son. She did request that her daughter-in-law stop calling her residence, saying that she felt the calls were “causing family problems.”

Investigation into the matter continues at the current time through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
