After hitting a Dollar General store man leads Tennessee police on a pursuit that ended in a fiery crash.

 

According to Knox County Sheriff's office they received reports on Sunday around 10:30 a.m. of a suspect hitting a Dollar General store on
East Raccoon Valley Drive in a black Volkswagen.

After deputies located the suspect he refused to stop which led them on a chase along the intersection of Conner and West Brushy Valley roads.

The driver of the Volkswagen was identified as Travis Zimmerman, 30, who continued evading deputies where he reached speeds up to 80 mph on Clinton Highway recklessly swerving in and out of traffic.

The chase finally ended when Zimmerman drove over some railroad tracks causing his vehicle to go airborne before crashing to the ground causing the vehicle to catch fire where the suspect drove into a ditch, and then jumped out of the vehicle.

Zimmerman fell to his back where he proceeded to try, and fight deputies grabbing one in the groin area before the deputy was able to hit the suspect in the head to subdue him.

Deputies arrested Zimmerman on charges of felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a license, resisting arrest and assault.

The Knox County fire department was called in to quickly extinguish the suspect's vehicle.
