Columbia Firefighters rescued a cat from a burning home.

 

The Columbia Fire and Rescue shared that on Sunday night units were dispatched to a residential structure fire on Alpine Drive.

Once units arrived they encountered heavy smoke throughout the home with the fire being located in the kitchen area.

The homeowner told firefighters that their cat was trapped inside the home, and Captain Brian O’ Cain along with Firefighter/EMT Jose Periut was able to locate the cat during the search where they were able to safely return the cat to his owner.

No injuries were reported with the fire.
