Victims Says She Was Not Struck By Car

Authorities summoned to investigate when a pedestrian was allegedly struck by a car driven by her husband Friday, were informed by the victim that she was not hit by the vehicle.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to investigate the domestic altercation shortly before 1:00 p.m. at the Bridy/South Brace Road intersection in the Summertown area. When they spoke with the twenty-six-year-old man who was driving the suspect vehicle, he told them he and his wife had been involved in an argument. He stated that his wife had asked to be let out of the vehicle, and that he had stopped and obliged. He told deputies that as he pulled away, while traveling at an estimated two miles per hour, he had “bumped” her with the side mirror. He then left the scene.

The alleged victim, however, told deputies that she had not been struck at all. She told deputies that her husband, “did not bump her with the car, threaten her, or harm her in any way.” She told officers that she was not in fear of her husband whatsoever, and that she had had an opportunity to walk off her frustration.

The man vowed that he would “never hurt her.” The couple was then allowed to leave the scene together, heading home.
