Indictments To Be Sought In Prescription Forgery Incident

Officials say indictments will be sought against a Leoma woman who allegedly changed a prescription before attempting to have it filled Monday.

Lawrenceburg Police Officers were notified of the situation by a Pharmacy Technician at Ledbetter’s Drug Store at 47 Public Square around 11:45 a.m.

The technician gave officers a prescription slip written by Dr. Warren Flemmer. The prescription for Lortab pills appeared to have been altered from a quantity of 12 to 42.

The dentist was contacted and confirmed the prescription was for 12 tablets. He indicated that the woman had been handed the slip, then went directly from his Pulaski Street office to the pharmacy.

The woman, who was still inside the store at the time, was asked to step outside. Officers informed her of her Miranda rights, then inquired about why she had altered the prescription. She allegedly stated she had done it “out of stupidity.”

The woman was not taken into custody at that time, however officers report charges will be sought against her through the Lawrence County Grand Jury.
