Daughter Claims Father Assaulted Her

A Lawrenceburg man is being required to answer a charge of domestic assault through Lawrence County General Sessions Court after his daughter alleged that he assaulted her.

The 21-year-old victim reported the incident through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, claiming that she had been assaulted by her father inside their Overlook Drive home.

The victim alleged that she had received a ride home from her father, and that during the ride, he had pulled over two separate times to punch her in the face and pull her hair.

Once they arrived at their home, the victim told deputies that the assault continued. She claimed that her father “pulled her out of the truck and up the stairs at the house by her hair.”

Once inside, the victim claimed that her mother joined the assault, hitting and scratching her. She told deputies that her mother pulled a poster off her wall and that when she attempted to stop her, her father hit her “forcing her into the wall and busting her nose.”

The victim claimed that she lost consciousness, and when she awoke, the poster had been placed beneath her head, “to keep the blood off of the floor.”

Deputies noted that the victim had sustained injuries to her eye, a cut inside her mouth, and that she had “other bruises and marks consistent with being assaulted.” As a result, deputies obtained warrants against both parents, charging them with the crime of domestic assault.

Inside the victim’s bedroom, deputies report finding blood stains on the floor and blood and hair on the poster, “consistent with (her) statement.” The deputy noted that “while talking with (father) he admitted that he did pull the truck over three times on the way home and that he pulled (daughter’s) hair.”

As the investigation continued, Chief Deputy Terry Beecham reports, the warrant against the mother was dismissed due to a lack of evidence of wrong-doing. The warrant against the father was converted to a criminal summons, requiring him to answer the charge through Lawrence County General Sessions Court. The father surrendered himself on the charge the following morning.

Chris Inman, 43, is charged with a single count of domestic assault. Sheriff’s department officials report that while the criminal summons has been served, it has not yet been processed, therefore a court date has not yet been set.
