Dog Catcher Uses Inmate To Help Manufacture Meth
Officials report City of Lawrenceburg Animal 
Control Officer Steven Dell Henson, 45, of 633 Fall River Road, Lawrenceburg, was arrested Thursday evening under allegations that he used a local jail inmate to assist him in the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Since his return to duty Henson, who sustained serious injuries in October when he was attacked by a dog confined at the city’s dog pound, had been assisted in daily operations by inmates from the jail assigned to the work release program.
Authorities had received a tip regarding the possible drug manufacturing activities. A joint investigation was subsequently undertaken by members of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s and Lawrenceburg Police Departments.
Officials indicate that Henson was operating a mobile meth lab. Components were reportedly stored just outside the dog pound premises as well as on property situated on West Point Road near the Waterloo Road intersection. The first warrant obtained against Henson states that he “had the items stored that were used to manufacture methamphetamine, including Coleman fuel, lye, acid, tubing, Lithium batteries, funnels, and filters…”
Authorities allege Henson was actually manufacturing the drug near the boys’ orphanage (The Christian Home), on West Point Road. The second warrant states that Henson, “did initiate in a process to manufacture methamphetamine. He did use a subject that was on work release to manufacture the meth. He also drove this subject around while on work release to purchase the items used to manufacture meth…”
Henson was arrested Thursday on one count of initiation to process and manufacture methamphetamine and one count of promotion of methamphetamine manufacturing.
Henson is currently held at the Lawrence County Jail under a bond of $100,000.
