Prowler Steals Twinkies From Child’s Clubhouse

Police officers report a man prowling about a Lawrenceburg apartment complex last weekend stole Twinkies from a child’s clubhouse before being apprehended.

Lawrenceburg Police Officers answered the 10:52 a.m. call to Whispering Oaks Apartments on Claymar Drive Saturday. Residents reported there was a man who was possibly intoxicated who had been attempting to gain access to vehicles in the parking lot.

When they arrived, officers report the apartment manager had already detained the man. The manager said he had come by the office, seeking work. While he was on the premises he said he witnessed the man attempting to gain access to at least one resident’s vehicle.

While the suspect was being detained a resident reported he had come to her home earlier, posing as a maintenance worker. When she would not allow him to enter her apartment, she said he walked to her granddaughter’s clubhouse. While there, he allegedly stole an antique hammer, crackers and a box of Twinkies.

Officers issued the man, Robert Shane Ritchie, 20, of 402 Fifth Street, a citation, charging him with theft of property.

The citation requires that Ritchie appear in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on September 2, 2010.
