Postal Worker Bitten By Dog While On The Job

A postal worker was bitten by a dog while running her mail route during the weekend, forcing her to seek medical attention.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show a deputy was dispatched around 11:30 a.m. Saturday to Rapid Care Clinic on Locust Avenue, regarding a dog bite. Victim Becky Hagan Hunt, 52, told deputies while she was delivering mail at 123 Pine Grove Road, she was bitten on the right ankle by a female yellow Labrador Retriever.

The wound was serious enough, the deputy noted, to require sutures.

At the time the report was filed the deputy indicated he had been unable to make contact with the dog’s owner.

A second dog bite was reported to authorities on Sunday. Reports show that mom Tiffany Godsey, 30, sought medical attention for her 1 ½ year old son, Noah Isaac Godsey, after he was bitten in the face by her brother’s dog.

Godsey, a resident of Jacksonville, Florida, told deputies that her brother’s dog had been lying on a recliner; her son sitting on the dog steps. When the toddler turned toward the dog, she said the dog bit him on the right side of his nose and face.

The young victim received treatment for his injury at Crockett Hospital, and was later released.
