Resident Stabbed During Holiday Celebration

A Five Points resident became the victim of a stabbing while hosting an Independence Day celebration overnight Friday.

The victim, age 39, told deputies that he had hosted a Fourth of July party Friday evening. It was around 12:15 a.m. Saturday, he indicated, when an acquaintance appeared and “wanted to hang out.”

The victim told deputies he informed the man he was not welcome, then asked him to leave. He said the man did leave, but returned a short time later on a four wheeler with another man. He reported that the pair began yelling profanities at the party attendees, leaving and returning more than once. The last time, he said the man dismounted from the four wheeler and took a swing at him. He said they scuffled in a cornfield, then the man got back on the four wheeler and the pair left, saying they would return with an “uncle.”

Shortly, the victim said the two returned inside a white van, along with another man. He reported that they pulled into his driveway and exited. One was reportedly armed with a baseball bat while the acquaintance was armed with a small knife. The victim said that the acquaintance then stabbed him in the stomach. All three, he reported, attempted to fight with people attending the party, however party-goers were able to detain the trio. They were escorted off the property prior to the arrival of law enforcement officials. Deputies were able to obtain little information regarding the aggressors.

Deputies report that the victim refused medical treatment. They indicated that he sustained what appeared to be a shallow cut with little blood.

The case remains under investigation at the current time through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
