Soldier Is Victim Of Identity Theft

   A Lawrenceburg man serving in the military in Iraq has become a victim of identity theft.

   Shayna Brewer reported to Lawrenceburg Police Officers Friday that her husband, Joshua Eddie Brewer, age 21, was the target of identity theft.

   Brewer stated that her husband had been serving in Iraq since September, 2006. She had discovered that someone had opened an account at Citi Bank on October 15, 2006, by using his name. She indicated that he “now owes more than $2,000 to Citi Bank for purchases he did not make.” The individual who opened the account had used a post office box for billing purposes.

   In addition, Brewer reported that the culprit had used her husband’s Green Bank checking account to make a payment.

   The case remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division at the current time.
