Lawrenceburg Leaders Contract For Collection Of Delinquent Court Costs And Fines

Lawrenceburg city leaders voted during their bi-monthly business meeting Thursday to contract with a company for the collection of delinquent court costs and fines.

Commissioners had accepted bids on the collection services and indicate that Solutia Government Services submitted the low bid.

During the business meeting, commissioners voted to “enter into an agreement to perform collection services for delinquent fines and court costs.” Under the agreement, the company will collect the fees and fines for the city, adding their own fees to the total.

City Administrator William McLain told commissioners that the city “has a lot” of these accounts that are currently delinquent. He indicated that in the future individuals will be given a 120-day period in which to pay such fines and fees. At that point the account will be considered “delinquent,” he said, and will be turned over to the collection agency.
