Grant Program May Reimburse City Funds

   Lawrenceburg leaders have voted to participate in a government grant program in the hopes of returning a significant amount of money to city coffers.

   Human Resources Director Ken Hinson presented the request to members of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Commissioners Thursday. Hinson requested that the panel vote to participate in the Tennessee Municipal League Risk Management Group Safety Partners Grant Program. The program is designed to reimburse governments for monies spent on personal protection devices.

   Hinson explained that, if approved, the city would be reimbursed 50% of funds spent on particular safety equipment. Under the program, governments are reimbursed for funds already spent throughout the fiscal year.

   This year, Hinson said, the city has the potential of being reimbursed funds of up to $4,000.00.

   Members of the board voted unanimously to approve the resolution.
