Lawrenceburg Leaders Announce New Litter Policy

Effective July 1, refuse pickup provided by the City of Lawrenceburg Sanitation Department will be limited to brush and bagged yard waste. All else placed on the curb or along alleyways will not be picked up, and will be considered litter. Violators will be issued citations requiring that they appear in city court. A fine of up to $50 per offense will be imposed. Each day the litter remains on the street will be considered a separate offense. (Rental property owners are responsible for any litter generated by their renters.)

The measures have been enacted by city leaders in an effort to keep the city clean and litter free.

All such litter should be taken either to the Lawrence County Solid Waste Transfer Station and Recycle Center, 2126 Baler Drive, or, due to the closure of the demolition landfill, to the Lawrenceburg Street Department, 100 Ezell Drive where you will be instructed regarding disposal.

The City of Lawrenceburg regrets any inconvenience this may cause on some citizens, but steps must be taken to recapture the cleanliness and aesthetically pleasing nature of the city.
