Monday Morning Crash Claims One Life

A resident of Cornersville perished as the result of injuries he sustained in a Monday morning crash in the Three Oaks community.

Reports filed through the Tennessee Highway Patrol show that the crash involved a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Richard Copper, age 74, of Lawrenceburg, and a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Emerson Willis, age 80, of Cornersville.

Troopers report that both drivers were northbound on U.S. Highway 43 North in Three Oaks. Willis was reportedly traveling in the right hand lane while Copper was traveling in the passing lane.

As Copper attempted to pass Willis, reports show that Willis crossed into Copper’s lane of travel, striking the right front quarter panel. Willis was thrown from the motorcycle.

He was transported by helicopter to a Nashville hospital and later died as the result of his injuries. Copper was reportedly uninjured.
