Local Men Indicted On Rape, Battery Charges

Two Lawrence County men, both already incarcerated at the local jail, were served with paperwork this week, and a third man arrested, after having been indicted by a grand jury on rape and battery charges.

A capias warrant was served at the Lawrence County Detention Center to Charles Dwayne Jackson, 42, on Monday, charging him with the crime of rape of a child. Joshua Blake Ray, 24, was also served a capias warrant, charging him with two counts of statutory rape.

Early Tuesday, a grand jury capias was served to forty-three-year-old Larry James Comer of Lawrenceburg. Comer was booked through the jail on charges of sexual battery by an authority figure.

Officials with the Lawrenceburg Police Department indicate the charges against Comer stemmed from an incident during which he allegedly touched a teenage girl in an inappropriate manner. Comer was incarcerated under a bond of $10,000.

All three men are scheduled to answer the charges through Lawrence County Circuit Court on July 5, 2011.
