Husband Charged In Crime Against Ex Files Contradictory Claim

When he was no longer incarcerated, a local man charged in recent days with chasing his ex wife, her boyfriend and a neighbor, who were on foot, while he hung a gun out his truck window reported to authorities that he was actually the one who had been assaulted.

The altercation was reported to Lawrenceburg Police Officers on June 4. The trio told officers that Bobby Edward Gray, 44, of 450 Big Springs Fork had stopped by the home on Fifth Street and initiated a physical confrontation with his ex-wife’s boyfriend. While fighting in the street, they reported that a neighbor ran to his friend’s aid.

They said that Gray retrieved a handgun from his truck, that they “ran for cover” while he pursued them with his truck.

Gray was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center on charges of aggravated domestic assault and two counts of aggravated assault.

After he was released the following Monday, Gray went to the Lawrenceburg Police Department where he filed his own complaint.

He told officers that he had come to the address to speak with his ex-wife, age 41. He acknowledged that he had become involved in the altercation, but reported that the two men had assaulted him.

Gray said he asked repeatedly that they let him up so that he could leave, but that they did not. He indicated he retrieved his firearm, “in order to stop the fighting so he could leave because he didn’t want any more trouble.”

When he filed the report, officers advised Gray about the process he would need to go through in order to pursue charges.
