Burglaries Reported In Iron City aAnd Summertown

Investigations were initiated late last week in regards to burglaries that occurred at homes in both the Iron City and Summertown areas.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department answered a 5:30 p.m. call Friday to a home situated at 1127 North Brace Road.

A relative reported the resident had left home around 10:00 p.m. Thursday, going to Columbia. When he returned at 4:00 p.m. Friday he found that his home had been burglarized.

The resident reported that the culprits had stolen four shotguns, three rifles, a computer monitor and hand tools valued at $2,250.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m. deputies were sent to investigate a burglary at 106 Danley Road, Iron City. The residents there reported that while they were away, someone broke into their home, vandalizing and ransacking it, then made off with their possessions.

Deputies report the culprits spray painted the side of the house beneath the window through which they gained entry. Inside, the home was searched and items stolen.

Reported missing were jewelry items, a lap top computer, camcorder, rifles, shotguns, a safe and collectible knives. Loss and damages there were estimated at $2,380.

Both crimes are currently under investigation by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information pertinent to the investigations is urged to contact the department at 763-3626.
