Alligator spotted in Tennessee River near popular point mallard walking trail.

 

According to Officials with the Decatur Parks and Recreation Department said they are aware of an alligator from the nearby river was moving around the Point Mallard Walking Trail.

Park officials stated that the Alabama Fish and Game have been contacted.

Officials are advising everyone to always be aware of their surroundings definitely when conducting in outdoor activities because alligators along the Tennesse River have become a common occurrence with reported sightings almost every year.

In 1979 56 alligators from Louisiana were dropped into remote parts of Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge, and there is no for sure number of how many alligators are along the stretch of the Tennessee River now.
