Woman Finds Storage Unit Unlocked And Empty

A woman who recently moved to Lawrenceburg reported Saturday that all of her belongings had been stolen from her rented storage unit.

The victim, age 32, told officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department that she had gone to her storage unit on Mattoxtown Road to retrieve some personal items. When she arrived, she said the unit was unlocked and all of her belongings were gone.

She told officers that the unit had contained everything she owned except for a few items of clothing. She estimated the items to have a cumulative value of $12,182.

Officers spoke with representatives of the business, Storage Express, and confirmed that the victim was up to date on her rental fees.

They said they had noticed the unit was unlocked and emptied, but had assumed she had removed her property therefore they did not notified her.

Officers noted that the victim had paid her rental fee four days after management noticed her belongings were gone.
