Father-In-Law Attacks Truck With Metal Box

A Summertown man told authorities that his father-in-law had caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to his vehicle late last week when he began hitting it with a metal box.

The victim, age 36, reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies that he had gone to his father-in-law’s Jarel Lane, Summertown home to pick up his cell phone. He said that while there his father-in-law became upset, picked up a metal box, and began damaging his truck with it.

The victim said that his father-in-law would not allow him to get out of his truck and when he attempted to leave, he reached through the open window and punched him in the face two times. He said that he continued inflicting damage to the truck as he was leaving.

Deputies noted dents and scratches on the truck and report that one of the headlights was broken. Altogether damages were estimated to total $2,500.

When deputies spoke with the father-in-law, Jonathan James Bolen, age 42, he told them that the victim had threatened him with a knife and that he had grabbed the metal box and hit the truck twice. Deputies noted that no knife was recovered from the truck.

Bolen was arrested on charges of vandalism and domestic assault and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center without incident.
