Investigators Seek Information In Arsons Fires

Investigators continue to seek information regarding recent arson fires in the Summertown community.

The first two fires occurred at 20 West Hannah Road on October 23rd and November 25th of last year. Those two fires destroyed a residence owned by Daniel and Leslie Hunt. The third fire took place in the early morning hours on Wednesday, May 27th at 4 Caldwell Road. That fire destroyed a vacant house and its contents owned by Wayne Glenn.

Anyone with information is urged to call the arson hotline at 1-800-762-3017. A reward of up to $1500 is offered for information leading to the arrest or conviction of those responsible for the fires.

Plea agreements were reached in two other arson cases in past months. Janet L. Kellum, 27, of Lawrenceburg, pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated arson. She received an eight year suspended sentence and was placed on probation. She had been indicted on the charge of aggravated arson resulting from a fire that occurred at Lawrence County High School in 2007. Betty Byrd, 55, of Lawrenceburg, entered a guilty plea in a fire that occurred at a residence on Brannon Street in 2008. She was indicted on and pled to a charge of arson. Byrd received a three year suspended sentence and was placed on probation.
