Two Men Face Charges For Setting Fire Beneath Bridge

Two Lawrenceburg men face multiple charges in connection with an arson fire that led emergency personnel to extinguish a blaze beneath a bridge late Thursday.

Units with the Lawrenceburg Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to an area beneath a bridge on West Gaines Street, adjacent to Parkway Service Center, around 9:00 p.m.

A suspect was identified at the scene and authorities report that Lawrenceburg resident Josh Grisham Love, III, 26, was detained for questioning. Officials report that Love admitted he and another man had set the fire.

During a pat down subsequent to arrest, officers discovered that Love was in possession of narcotics and items of drug paraphernalia. He was booked through the Lawrence County Detention Center on charges that include reckless burning, vandalism, possession of Schedule IV narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In the early hours Friday, authorities report that an officer on patrol in the same area noticed a man leaning against a wall outside nearby Taz Mart who had also been identified as a suspect in the arson. When they spoke with the subject, officers report it appeared he was under the influence of an intoxicant.

Officers requested that the man allow them to conduct a search for weapons. Inside his backpack, they report finding a number of pills, rolling papers and a syringe. The man, William Nicholas Fleeman, 29, was subsequently arrested and transported to the detention center.

Fleeman was booked on charges of possession of Schedule IV narcotics, two counts of possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of a legend drug for the purpose of resale, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both Love and Fleeman are scheduled to answer the charges against them in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on July 1, 2011.
