Maury County Fire department responded to 6 people being stranded on the river.

According to Maury County fire department units were dispatched Saturday night around 8:50 p.m. with reports that 6 people were stranded/lost.

The department stated 6 people had entered the water at Blue Springs on small pool type floats intending to float to Iron Bridge, but they had misjudged the amount of time it would take.

A boat from CFR was requested due to the number of people that needed to be rescued.

All 6 people were rescued which included 2 small children.

The Maury County fire department ended the post by strongly encouraging that you require all children to wear appropriately sized coast guard approved life jackets while they are in lakes and rivers.
