Victim Reports Being Attacked By Co-Worker
Police officers intervened Wednesday when a Lawrenceburg woman reported she had been attacked inside her home by a co-worker.
The victim requested Lawrenceburg Police Officers be dispatched to her 509 Second Street home shortly after 8:00 p.m. She told responding officers that her coworker, Evel Roscoe Butler, 38, of 189 Spring Creek Road, had come to her house earlier.
During the visit, she said he became angered and began punching her in the face. The victim told officers that Butler threw her down the hallway of her home, jumped atop her, then continued to punch her.
After a time, the victim reports that they moved into the yard. She said that while she was standing beside her car Butler grabbed her about the neck and began to choke her. A friend, she said, had to “pull him off of her.” He then got into a black Chevrolet S10 truck and left.
The officer noted that the victim had sustained marks about her face as well as along both sides of her neck. She explained to officers that she was acquainted with Butler through her job only, and had no idea why he would have attacked her.
A Be On the LookOut alert was issued for Butler’s truck and an officer soon spotted it in the neighborhood where the assault had occurred. When confronted, Butler denied having any knowledge of the assault.
Noting that he appeared to be intoxicated, officers requested that he perform field sobriety tests. After failing to perform satisfactorily, Butler was placed under arrest on charges of DUI and violation of the implied consent law.
He is scheduled to appear in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on July 8, 2011 in connection with the charges.
At the time reports were filed no charges had yet been issued in regards to the assault incident. Investigation into the matter, however, is continuing through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
