Two Indicted In Davis Murder

During a special session of the Lawrence County Grand Jury held Friday morning, indictments were issued against two local residents in connection with the murder of Robert Oscar Davis.

Davis, age 46, of 46 Holloway Road, Five Points, was last seen by a relative in the early hours of Friday, May 3, 2013. A missing persons investigation was launched through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department the following Monday.

His sister reported him missing after he failed to show up for work that morning. On Tuesday Davis’ 2001 Chevrolet truck was found abandoned on Wisdom Road in West Point. It was locked and had a flat tire.

Two individuals were detained for questioning on Friday, May 10. Authorities continued search efforts, utilizing a cadaver dog in the search of several areas.

Eight days after he went missing authorities recovered Davis’ body on Saturday, May 11. A positive identification was made by family members and the body dispatched for autopsy.

The autopsy revealed that Davis had died as the result of blunt force trauma.

During Friday’s grand jury session investigators presented evidence collected in the case. The grand jury returned indictments charging Ricky Lee Houser of Lawrenceburg, with the crimes of first degree murder, felony murder and aggravated robbery.

Rachel Kay Bond of Five Points was indicted on charges of criminal responsibility for first degree murder.

Both Houser and Bond had been incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center on unrelated charges. On Friday additional bonds of $250,000 were set for both. Both face arraignment through Lawrence County Circuit Court in coming weeks.
